In part 1 of this message, I used Balaam and his path to
Moab to synonymously reference a path to destruction when we second-guess our
Heavenly Father’s divine order for our lives. In part 2, the Lord has moved me
to address another side of Balaam’s story that can be used to shed light on
something that we can also extract from this passage.
If you can recall,
Balak, King of Moab, sought out Balaam as a man of GOD and one with great
credibility. Balak wanted Balaam to curse the Israelites (i.e. set GOD against
them), which surely would weaken them that they may be overcome by Balak and
his army. GOD spoke to Balaam, and explicitly demanded that Balak’s messengers
be sent away and that the Israelites were not to be cursed because they are a
blessed people. We know that Balaam eventually set out to Moab after seeking
GOD’s permission for a second time after King Balak made the pot sweeter for Balaam.
We also know that Balaam would have been slain by an angel of the Lord on his
path to Moab had he continued his journey to bring harm against the Israelites
who had been blessed by GOD.
Brethren, when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we
are born again and made anew. GOD gifts us with his Holy Spirit and we become a
blessed people. When we are blessed, it does not mean that we are invincible
and that there aren’t those who intend to do us harm. The enemy despises the
blessed discretely, and he covertly conspires to tear down what has been
blessed by the “Almighty.” It may be the boss or co-worker that smiles in your
face while setting a bullseye on your back. It may be a longtime friend or
family member who covets the bountiful harvests produced from your Godly seeds
spread amongst the fields of life. Perhaps it’s the naysayers and pessimists
that speak ill of your name. Brethren, fret not. The Israelites sat at the edge
of Moab, not knowing of the harmful conspiracies set in motion by their enemy,
but GOD was fully aware. Not a sword was drawn nor a hair harmed on the head of
one Israelite. You see, the battle was fought for us when we offered ourselves
unto Christ. When the enemy operates in the darkness, our Lord and savior is
the light of the world. I don’t care who the enemy is or how mighty the enemy
may seem to be. We, as the blessed in Christ, have a weapon in our arsenal that
is mightier than the sword. We are
unconquered in Him! The Lord is fighting
your battle today by His own divine intervention! In the name of the Son, today
and forevermore, you are unconquered!
My prayer for you today:
"Heavenly Father, I thank you for accepting us into your
flock. I thank you for continuing to be our loving Shepherd. As commanded in
your word, we pray for our enemies and we deliver them into your hands.
Strengthen us as our enemy conspires in darkness, and humble us in our dealings
with the enemy that we may be a consistent reflection of you O’ Lord. In your
son Jesus name, Amen…"
May this message be a blessing to you all…
