As the storms rolled through yesterday, my 5 year old, like
most times, reminded me how much he hates the rain and the loud sounds of the
thunder. “I like the sunny days daddy so we can have fun” he says. I told him
that I too enjoy the sunny days, but I take solace in the rain because it is
essential to our survival. The look on his face told me that his youthful
outlook did not embrace this concept.
Brothers and sisters, we cannot spend eternity in the sunlight without
succumbing to drought. That is, those who bask in never-ending sun will wither
away due to famine. Some of us confuse our lack of rain with blessings poured
from the heavens when you have merely been distracted by worldly luxuries. If you
have a relationship with GOD, you should also know that no matter the seed you
sow, there is no growth without the rain. If you have convinced yourself that
your never-ending sunshine is the work of Christ, it is a necessity that you reevaluate
the origin from which your sunshine derived. Spiritual growth is cyclical and
GOD will allow both sunshine and showers upon his seeds to ensure their growth.
Without his rain, one can anticipate a lack of gain. Moving forward, know that
growth is in the rain and sunshine is on the horizon.
My prayer for you today:
“Father we cannot predict the severity of the storm, but we know that you are certain to be with us as we weather it. Subsequent to the
rain, we pray that you open our eyes to your intended purpose and the growth that
was acquired. We trust you in all situations. In Jesus name, Amen...”
I hope this is a blessing to someone this morning… GOD bless you all
